Kaity's Corner: Grusha's Scarf from Pokemon Violet

This is my inaugural Kaity's Corner post! If you're not sure what that means, check out my previous post  on the topic. A customer recently asked if he could commission a scarf to look like Grusha's scarf from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. A quick Google search told me that yes, I can absolutely make that! I was really excited for the opportunity both to get a completely custom order and to write a pattern. It's been a while since I flexed my writing muscles (except to tweak a few steps in already-written patterns), so to start the year on a more creative foot felt awesome! I have a PDF of this pattern available to purchase on Ravelry, which can be found here . It doesn't have the advantage of no ads since my blog doesn't have ads either, but the PDF is downloadable, printer-friendly, and a little more streamlined for reading. 2026 Artisan Market schedule

It's been a long, cold, grey winter here in southeast Michigan. With this week's blissfully warm days, it's been a nice teaser of the spring that's soon to come (once we get past the inevitable Second Winter, which is coming at the end of this week 😩). To celebrate this False Spring, I thought I'd give you a teaser of the market season that's soon to come! I've spent the past few months applying to plenty of craft fairs, artisan markets, and farmer's markets all over southeast and mid Michigan. Why shop with me in person instead of online? I offer exclusive sales, discounts, and sometimes inventory in person that I don't put up on my online shop! Sometimes it's as simple as a bookmark design that I only make a few of, and sometimes it's bigger items like the hippie headbands that I made for Berkley's Hippie Fest back in 2024. It's time for a pivot.

Disclaimer: I had to work really, really hard to write this post without a lot of self-pity. Some may have bled through anyway. I mostly apologize if it did. When I re-launched my business as Charm and Strange Crochet in 2022, my head was buzzing with business advice from a highly successful crochet business owner. Pam Grice of Crochetpreneur went viral overnight back in 2013 and had to hire dozens of crocheters to help her get her orders out. Now she makes high-six figures teaching people how to be successful in their own crochet businesses, whether they focus on selling products like I do or on writing patterns. So she MUST be right. A huge piece of her advice was to "find your niche." When I first started selling as Kate's Crochets, I sold basically anything I felt like.
