Here is a boiled-down list of care instructions for everything I sell!

Cotton Items

  • 85% recycled cotton, 15% polyester
  • Machine wash cold, gentle cycle & inside a garment bag or pillowcase
  • Dry flat preferred
  • Tumble dry no heat or on the lowest heat setting
  • Cotton items include:
    • Swiffer dust covers
    • Dish cloths & wash cloths
    • Face scrubbies
    • Most bags (market and drawstring bags; water bottle slings)
    • Glasses pouches
    • Coasters
    • Soap cozies
    • Mug cozies
    • toddler teething rings

Acrylic Items

  • 100% acrylic
  • Machine wash cold, gentle cycle & inside a garment bag or pillowcase
  • Dry flat preferred
  • Tumble dry no heat or on the lowest heat setting
  • Acrylic items include:
    • Messy bun hats
    • Solid hats
    • Produce bags
    • Headbands/earwarmers
    • Infinity scarves
    • Hats for cats
    • Dish scrubbies

Specialty Items

  • Toy mice for cats should be spot cleaned if necessary
    • body is 85% recycled cotton, 15% polyester
    • stuffing is 100% acrylic
    • catnip is an optional but popular add-on
  • Pride Poos should be spot cleaned if necessary
    • body is 100% cotton
    • stuffing is either 100% polyester fiberfill, or a combination of cotton and polyester yarn scraps
    • eyes are plastic
    • NOTE ABOUT SAFETY EYES: they can be a choking hazard for children under 4 and for pets. Pride Poos or other custom plushies with hard plastic eyes should never be given unattended to children under 4 years of age or pets. These items are intended for decoration and gentle play only - not for anyone who might chew/suck on a toy heavily.

A customer recently asked if he could commission a scarf to look like Grusha's scarf from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. A quick Google search told me that yes, I can absolutely make that! I was really excited for the opportunity both to get a completely custom order and to write a pattern. It's time for a pivot.

Disclaimer: I had to work really, really hard to write this post without a lot of self-pity. Some may have bled through anyway. I mostly apologize if it did. When I re-launched my business as Charm and Strange Crochet in 2022, my head was buzzing with business advice from a highly successful crochet business owner. Pam Grice of Crochetpreneur went viral overnight back in 2013 and had to hire dozens of crocheters to help her get her orders out. 7 Uses for a handmade drawstring bag

When I first made a drawstring bag for myself, I had one use in mind: dice. I'd just started playing Dungeons and Dragons with some friends, and I collected three sets of polyhedral dice pretty quickly. I wanted something prettier and more practical to keep my dice in than the clear plastic display boxes they often come in. I decided to sell three sizes: small (good for 1-3 sets of dice), medium (good for 3-5 sets of dice), and large (great for minifigures and/or oversized dice). But when I bring the drawstring bags with me to craft fairs, and people ask "what are these for?" and I answer "dice for D&D," most people put them down.
